Figure Ate Biltong Compared With Grub Company: What Each Offers

Figure Ate and Grub Company both make air-dried grass-fed beef biltong in the United States, but Grub is certified Glatt Kosher and Figure Ate is built around regenerative ranching and a two-flavor line. If you keep kosher, that decides it. If you care most about how the cattle were raised, Figure Ate puts that at the center of its story. Here is the comparison, built from what each company says on its own website.

Grub Company makes certified Glatt Kosher biltong and Meat Candy beef jerky, air-dried in small batches in Florida. As of October 2026, based on Figure Ate's own website, this page lists what each company states. We are not affiliated with Figure Ate. We did not taste or test its biltong and we make no judgment about its quality. We report only what its site says, and we say where it is silent.

What Figure Ate says it offers

Figure Ate's site sells two biltong flavors, Original and Spiced, both described as grass-fed and grass-finished beef. It also sells multipacks, including 8-packs and 12-packs, a mix-and-match option, and a naturally fermented persimmon vinegar.

The product pages describe the process in detail. The beef is marinated, tumbled and air-dried for 14 days. The site says that each bag starts as a 5 oz grass-fed steak and is dried down to 2 oz. It says that, unlike jerky, biltong is never smoked or exposed to high heat. It states 32 grams of protein and zero grams of sugar per bag.

The Original ingredient list on its site is grass-fed beef, organic wine vinegar, sea salt, organic black pepper and organic coriander. The Spiced list adds organic red pepper flakes, organic garlic and organic paprika. The site says there are no artificial preservatives, nitrates or nitrites. It does not name a certifying body for the word organic.

On sourcing, the site says the biltong is made from 100% regenerative beef and that Figure Ate sources exclusively from ranches whose practices are verified to have positive ecological outcomes. It says Figure Ate is part of White Buffalo Land Trust, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and that purchases support expanding regenerative agriculture. It also says the biltong won a Good Food Award twice, in 2023 and in 2026.

On shipping, the site says orders ship within one to two business days. Standard Ground typically takes three to five business days in the U.S., and Expedited Priority takes two to three. Free Standard Ground shipping applies to qualifying orders within the contiguous U.S.

What we did not find: the pages we read did not say where the biltong is made, and none of them mention kosher. We did not find a kosher certification stated on Figure Ate's site.

What Grub Company offers

Grub's center is Sliced Biltong, a 3 oz bag in Original, Peri Peri and Loaded Garlic. Original is beef first, then the warm citrus note of coriander. Peri Peri adds real heat. Loaded Garlic is roasted garlic, savory rather than hot.

The Original ingredients are grass-fed kosher beef, coriander, black pepper, salt, garlic and vinegar. Peri Peri adds red pepper and brown sugar to that list, so read the label for your flavor. Grub does not say its beef is regenerative, and we will not claim it.

Grub also makes 1 oz Minis, a Biltong Sampler Pack, a one-pound bulk bag, one-pound uncut Slabs and Meat Candy beef jerky, which is cooked, glazed and sweet. Everything is certified Glatt Kosher. Our kosher biltong page explains what that means. Orders over $50 ship free, and we ship to US addresses only.

Who each one suits

Choose Grub if you keep kosher. A certification is a yes or no. Grub states certified Glatt Kosher. We did not find one stated on Figure Ate's site, so if you need to know, ask Figure Ate directly. Our kosher biltong buying guide lists what to check on any label.

Choose Figure Ate if regenerative ranching is the reason you buy. That is its stated mission, and it is not what Grub leads with. If where and how the cattle were raised matters most to you, read its sourcing pages and decide for yourself.

Choose Figure Ate if you want organic spices stated on the label. Its site lists organic wine vinegar, pepper and coriander. Grub's labels do not say organic.

Choose Grub if you want more ways to buy. Minis suit a lunchbox. The Sampler Pack gives one mini of each flavor. The bulk bag and Slabs suit a household that goes through a lot. A slab is an ingredient, not a snack, and it needs a board and a sharp knife.

Choose Grub if you also want jerky. Meat Candy gives you the sweet end of the shelf from the same kosher maker. Our guide to Meat Candy versus biltong explains when each fits.

Choose Figure Ate if you like a cleaner two-flavor choice. Original and Spiced is a short menu. Some shoppers prefer it. Grub's three flavors are a little wider, with a distinct garlic option.

Where the two look alike

Both make air-dried biltong from grass-fed beef with vinegar, salt, coriander and pepper. Both sell it ready to eat. Both describe it as a savory, high-protein snack rather than a sweet one. Figure Ate says its biltong is not smoked or exposed to high heat. For how Grub explains air-drying, read is biltong cooked.

The bag sizes are not the same, so compare the weight, not the bag count. Figure Ate states a 2 oz bag. Grub's everyday bag is 3 oz, and its Minis are 1 oz.

The bottom line

If you keep kosher, buy the certified one. That is Grub. If you want a biltong built around regenerative ranching and organic spices, Figure Ate states that clearly, and it is a fair reason to choose it. Many households will not need to choose forever. Try the Biltong Sampler Pack to see Grub's three flavors, and browse the kosher beef jerky and biltong collections for the rest.
