Purim & Shalach Manos
Shalach manos has a sameness problem, and everyone knows it. By the afternoon most households have received a great deal of chocolate, several kinds of candy and more hamantaschen than anyone can eat.
One savory, substantial item stands out precisely because everything else is sweet.
Why it suits the day
| The requirement | How it does |
|---|---|
| Certified, and visibly so | Glatt Kosher, with published certificates |
| No refrigeration | Sealed, shelf-stable for months |
| Individually portioned | 1 oz Mini’s are one bag per person |
| Travels between houses all day | Nothing melts, nothing leaks |
| Not another sweet | That is the entire point |
| Still good next week | Unopened, three to six months |
What to put in
Mini’s for volume — one bag per basket, mixed flavors, and nobody gets a heat level they did not want. A sampler for the few baskets that matter more. Meat Candy for children, who will take the sweet jerky over the savory every time. A slab for the household you are trying to impress.
Order early, and not the week of
We dry in batches rather than holding stock, and the weeks before Purim are the busiest of the kosher retail year. The product is stable; the delivery date is the only variable, and it is not one we control. A week of notice turns a problem into a non-event.
One separate question worth asking early rather than assuming: Pesach certification is a different question from year-round certification. Ask us directly, for the current year.
Availability moves — we dry in batches rather than holding warehouse stock, so what is buyable today is whatever the cards below say. Sold-out formats come back.
