Stocking Stuffers for Men: Small Gifts That Get Eaten
The best stocking stuffers for men are small things that get eaten: a few one-ounce bags of Sliced Biltong Mini's, a Biltong Sampler Pack, or a bag of Meat Candy. We make all of them as certified Glatt Kosher beef snacks, and they work for any man who eats meat.

Stocking stuffers have a problem. By January the stocking is empty and the pile of small gifts is a pile of clutter: a keychain, a bottle opener, a phone stand he already owns. The best stuffer is the one that is gone by New Year's Day and that he enjoyed on the way.
We are a kosher meat-snack maker in Florida. We air-dry grass-fed beef in small batches, and our line is certified Glatt Kosher. We sell to everyone, and plenty of our customers do not keep kosher at all. This guide covers what makes a good stuffer, which of our snacks fit a stocking, how to build one for different men, and when to pick something else.
What makes a good stocking stuffer for a man
A stuffer has to pass four tests. Most gifts fail at least two.
- It is small. A stocking is a sock. Anything that does not fit gets propped next to it, and then it is not a stuffer.
- It is not fragile. It sits in a stocking for a night and gets carried around on a morning of chaos. Chocolate melts. Glass breaks. A sealed bag of dried beef does neither.
- It needs nothing from him. No batteries, no setup, no instructions. He opens it and uses it.
- It gets used up. Consumables are the one category of small gift that never becomes clutter.
Beef snacks pass all four. They are also high in protein, which suits the man who is trying to stop eating chips at 4 p.m. We will not claim more than that.
The honest limit: a snack is a small gift, and it is meant to be one. A stocking made entirely of beef snacks is a joke, and only a good one if he is a man who would laugh. Use food as part of the stocking, not the whole of it.
The stuffers that fit: Minis, the Sampler, and Meat Candy
You do not need a lot of product. You need the right formats.
Sliced Biltong Mini's: the natural stuffer
Sliced Biltong Mini's are one-ounce sealed bags of our biltong, in Original, Peri Peri or Loaded Garlic. Biltong is a South African air-dried beef. It is cured with vinegar, salt and spices, then hung to dry rather than cooked. It is already sliced and ready to eat, and it needs no refrigeration.
The one-ounce bag is the right size for a stocking, and it is a bag a man can finish in one sitting. That matters. Nothing is left open on a counter, and nothing goes stale.
- Original. Beef first, then the warm citrus note of coriander. The reference point, and the safe pick.
- Peri Peri. The same beef with real heat building behind it. It is not a whisper. Give it to a man you know likes heat.
- Loaded Garlic. Roasted garlic, rounder and sweeter. Savory rather than hot.
Per ounce, Minis are the most expensive way to buy biltong. That is a portioning premium. For a stocking, portioning is the point.
The Biltong Sampler Pack: one stuffer, three flavors
The Biltong Sampler Pack is one mini bag each of Original, Peri Peri and Loaded Garlic. It is the safest choice if you do not know his taste, and the best one for a man who has never tried biltong. He finds his flavor in small amounts.
One flavor note. Peri Peri has real heat, and a sampler lets him find that out on his own terms. If you pick loose Minis instead, put a note on the Peri Peri bag.
Meat Candy: the sweet, jerky-style stuffer
Meat Candy is our name for beef jerky. Where biltong is savory and air-dried, Meat Candy is cooked, glazed and openly sweet. It is made from real, whole sliced beef. There are two flavors:
- Hickory Kickory Dock. Smoky hickory with the sweetness behind it rather than in front. It tastes closest to what most people mean by jerky.
- Baa-Baa BBQ Sheep. Korean BBQ, sweet and savory together, with more going on.
Meat Candy uses a glaze. If he watches sugar, or has an allergy, read the label on the product page or ask us before you order.
The right pick for the man who grew up on gas-station jerky and wants a better version of it. The wrong pick if he hates sweet. Then buy biltong.
A note on formats that do not belong in a stocking
Our Bulk Biltong pound and our Biltong Slabs are not stuffers. A slab is an ingredient. It needs a board and a sharp knife, and it will not fit in a sock. If the stocking is a part of a bigger gift, a slab can sit under the tree. Keep the stocking to sliced bags.
Build the stocking: four men, four combinations
Here is how we would fill a stocking for the men we hear about most. Add one non-food item to each, so the stocking is not all snacks.
- The man who has everything. He does not need more stuff, and he probably has not tried biltong. The Sampler Pack is a small, real surprise. Add a good pen or a pair of wool socks, something he will use daily.
- The road-trip or commuting man. Two or three Minis he can keep in the car. Sealed biltong does not melt or spoil in a glove box. Add a car phone mount or a tire gauge.
- The gym or hiking man. Minis fit a gym bag or a jacket pocket. They are dry, sealed and need no utensils. Add a shaker bottle or a pair of good hiking socks.
- The grill and game-day man. A bag of Meat Candy plus one Mini of Peri Peri. Add a meat thermometer or a bottle of his favorite hot sauce. For the full spread, see our guide to hosting a game day with biltong.
If the man in your life already loves biltong, you are past stuffer territory. Our list of gifts for someone who already loves biltong has bigger ideas.
How to pack it so it feels like a gift
- Take the Minis out of the shopping bag. Put them in the stocking loose, or tuck them into a toe. A bag in the stocking looks like a gift. A bag in a larger bag looks like groceries.
- Write on a tag. A strip of paper on each bag works: "Hot," "Try this first," "Original." A note shows you chose it.
- Pair, do not pile. Three bags plus one good non-food item beats ten bags.
- Keep it cool and dry until the morning. A stocking hung over a fireplace that is actually lit is a bad place for any food. Hang it, or store the contents until morning.
Practical details before you order
- Shipping. We ship within the US only. US orders over $50 ship free. Order early in December. Small items still travel at the pace of everyone else's packages.
- Storage. Keep sealed bags somewhere cool and dry. Biltong does not need refrigeration.
- Dietary needs. Check the ingredient list on each product page. If he has an allergy or a sugar limit, ask us before you buy.
- Kosher households. Our products are certified Glatt Kosher and made from beef, so they are meat. Keep them separate from dairy, and follow your family's custom on how long to wait between meat and dairy. Anything beyond that, ask your rabbi.

When to pick something else
A few honest warnings.
- Do not give meat to a man who does not eat it. This sounds obvious. It still happens.
- Do not assume every man wants jerky. Many who say they dislike jerky have only had the tough, sugary, mass-market kind. Biltong is a different thing and often wins them over. Some men will still prefer a candy bar. That is fine.
- Do not buy a large quantity of a flavor you have not tried. Minis and the Sampler exist for exactly this reason.
- Do not fill the whole stocking with food. One or two edible items and a few useful ones read as a thoughtful stocking. Eight snacks read as a rushed one.
The bottom line
A stocking stuffer should be small, sturdy and gone by January. For most men, that is a few Sliced Biltong Mini's or a Biltong Sampler Pack, with Meat Candy for the sweet tooth. Pair it with one thing he will use, write a note on the bag, and order early.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are good stocking stuffers for men?
Small, sturdy things that get used up. One-ounce bags of Sliced Biltong Mini's, a Biltong Sampler Pack and a bag of Meat Candy all fit, and none of them need refrigeration. Pair them with one useful non-food item.
Are beef snacks a good stocking stuffer?
Yes, for a man who eats meat. They are sealed, dry and sturdy, they need no preparation, and they get eaten rather than stored. They are also high in protein.
Which flavor should I buy if I do not know his taste?
Original. It is beef first, with a little coriander, and few people dislike it. If you want him to choose, send the Biltong Sampler Pack, which has all three flavors.
Is biltong the same as beef jerky?
No. Biltong is cured with vinegar and spices and air-dried. Jerky is cooked and usually marinated with sugar. Biltong is savory and tender. Jerky is sweeter and chewier. Our Meat Candy is our jerky, and many people keep both in the house.
Do the snacks need to be kept in the fridge?
No. Sealed biltong keeps without refrigeration, so it can sit in a stocking, a car or a gym bag. Once a bag is open, finish it in good time and keep it sealed and dry.
Is this okay for a man who keeps kosher?
Yes. Our biltong and Meat Candy are certified Glatt Kosher and made from beef, so they are meat products. Keep them separate from dairy and follow your family's custom on waiting between meat and dairy. For anything beyond that, ask your rabbi.
Do you ship outside the US?
No. We ship within the United States only. US orders over $50 ship free.
